LifeKnot Terms of Use

Effective date: November 16, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") set out the conditions for using LifeKnot (the iPhone and Apple Watch apps and the related server, the "Service"), provided by Makoto Tashiro (an individual; to be transferred to Senseis, a company planned to be established in January 2027) ("we"). Please read these Terms and our Privacy Policy before using the Service.

1. Scope

  1. These Terms apply to everyone who uses the Service ("you").
  2. Explanations, notices and limits shown inside the Service (for example on the purchase screen or in Settings) form part of these Terms.
  3. The license to use the app obtained from the App Store on your device is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). As the licensor under the Standard EULA, we comply with the Standard EULA.
  4. The conditions of the Service we provide, such as the subscription, the relay server and the AI features, are governed by these Terms. If the Standard EULA and these Terms conflict on the same matter, the Standard EULA prevails for the license to use the app, and these Terms prevail for all other conditions of the Service.
  5. Neither the Standard EULA nor these Terms limit any rights you have under applicable law.

2. The Service

  1. The Service turns conversations you record on Apple Watch or iPhone into text and creates conversation summaries, suggested tasks, a daily journal entry with a cover illustration, and answers to questions about your records.
  2. Transcription runs on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech recognition. Summaries, journal entries, cover illustrations and answers are generated automatically by outside AI services through our relay server.
  3. Transcripts, summaries, journal entries, illustrations and answers may contain errors, omissions, mix-ups or statements that differ from the facts. Check the original remarks before relying on them for important decisions.
  4. The Service is not a substitute for official minutes, legal evidence, or professional (medical, legal or other) advice.
  5. The Service requires an iPhone running iOS 26 or later that supports Apple's on-device transcription. Recording features are not available on unsupported iPhones.
  6. Features may change. We will give advance notice in the app or on our website before any major change that is unfavorable to you.

3. Account

  1. Sign in with Apple is required for the subscription and AI features. We do not ask for your email address or name.
  2. You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Delete Account. This removes the Service's records on that iPhone and your records on our relay server (except what the Privacy Policy says we keep), and cannot be undone.
  3. Deleting your account does not cancel your App Store subscription. Cancel first as described in Section 7.4.

4. Your responsibility when recording

  1. Follow the laws of the country, state or region where you record (including laws that require the consent of the other people in the conversation) and the rules of your workplace, school or venue.
  2. Respect the privacy of people around you, for example by telling them you are recording.
  3. Do not record with the Service where recording is not allowed (for example, where it is prohibited by law or contract, or where someone has refused to be recorded).
  4. Even if the other people in a conversation agreed to be recorded, they have not necessarily agreed to have the text of that conversation sent to AI services. Do not send a conversation to AI if they have not agreed (Section 5 of the Privacy Policy explains how).
  5. You are responsible for checking that you have the rights and consents needed to record and to handle what you record in the Service (including sending it to AI services). If you fail to do so and a problem with a third party results, you must deal with it. However, our liability for damage caused by our intentional misconduct or negligence is governed by Section 11.

5. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  1. Violate laws or public order and morals;
  2. Infringe the privacy, likeness, copyright or other rights of others;
  3. Use the Service for improper purposes, such as recording people without their knowledge;
  4. Place excessive load on the Service or servers, access them without authorization, send large volumes of automated requests, circumvent usage limits, or reverse-engineer the Service for abuse;
  5. Use the Service in a way that violates the terms of the outside AI services it relies on; or
  6. Unreasonably interfere with the operation of the Service or with other users' use of the Service.

6. Your data

  1. You (or the original rights holder) keep the rights to what you record or enter and to the transcripts, summaries, journal entries and illustrations the Service creates from it. We handle it only as needed to provide the Service.
  2. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
  3. Your records (transcripts, summaries, journal entries and so on) are stored on your iPhone. Recorded audio is deleted automatically 24 hours after transcription is complete (even if no summary has been made yet). Records can be lost if your device fails, is lost, or the app is deleted. Keep copies of important records using "Export records" in the app.

7. Subscription, price and payment

  1. Price: Using the Service requires the auto-renewing monthly subscription "LifeKnot" (¥1,800 per month in Japan, tax included). Prices in other countries and regions are as shown on the App Store (for example, US$9.99 per month in the United States). There is no free trial and no free plan.
  2. Payment: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Payment is processed by Apple through App Store in-app purchase; we never receive your credit card or other payment details.
  3. Auto-renewal: The subscription renews automatically every month from the purchase date at the same price unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. Price changes are notified in advance under Apple's rules.
  4. Cancellation: Cancel in iPhone Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, or in the app under Settings › Subscription › Manage or cancel. After cancellation you can keep using the Service until the end of the period you have paid for. If you cancel partway through a period for your own reasons, we do not give prorated refunds for the remainder of that period.
  5. Refunds: Requests for refunds of subscription fees paid on the App Store follow Apple's procedure (Apple's "Report a Problem", https://reportaproblem.apple.com). We cannot return fees paid on the App Store through the App Store.
  6. The preceding paragraph does not limit the rights you have under law in connection with our failure to perform (such as failing to provide the Service) or otherwise (such as cancelling the contract, getting fees back, or claiming damages). If you could not use the Service because of a problem on our side, contact support@lifeknot.app.
  7. Restore: When you change devices, use "Restore Purchases" in the app with the same Apple ID and the same Sign in with Apple account.
  8. Failed payment: If a renewal payment fails, subscription features are unavailable until payment succeeds (there is no grace period).
  9. For Japan, the disclosure under the Act on Specified Commercial Transactions is shown on a separate page (https://lifeknot.app/ja/tokushoho/).

8. What you can use, and limits

  1. While subscribed, you can use the Service as follows. The limits are also shown on the purchase screen and in Settings.
FeatureLimit
Recording, transcription (on iPhone), conversation summariesNo time limit
Journal entry (text)1 per day, no regeneration
Journal cover illustration1 per day, no regeneration
Questions about your records30 per day
  1. Journal entries and cover illustrations can be created for today and yesterday only.
  2. Once the daily question limit is reached, questions are unavailable until 0:00 the next day (Japan time). If an AI service outage continues, questions may stop before 30.
  3. Attempts that fail on our side (AI outages, network problems and other failures recorded by our server) are not counted.
  4. If there is a malfunction or use far beyond normal use, such as large volumes of automated use, we may temporarily pause conversation summaries. Recording, transcription and journal entries continue during the pause.
  5. While you are not subscribed (before purchase, or after the period ends because of cancellation or a failed payment), new recording and AI features (summaries, journal entries, cover illustrations, questions) are unavailable. You can still read, search, export and delete your existing records.

9. Outside services

The Service relies on outside services such as Apple (sign-in, payment, transcription, weather), Cloudflare (relay server) and OpenAI (summaries, journal entries, illustrations, answers). Suspension, changes or failures of these services may make all or part of the Service unavailable.

10. Suspension, changes and termination of the Service

  1. We may suspend all or part of the Service without notice for maintenance, failures or other unavoidable reasons.
  2. If we end the Service, we will announce it in the app and on our website at least 30 days before the end date. From the announcement, we stop accepting new subscriptions and stop auto-renewal of subscriptions.
  3. As a rule, the end date will be after the end of the last subscription period paid for before auto-renewal stopped. If we must end the Service partway through a paid period, we will direct you to Apple's refund procedure. Even in that case, we do not limit the rights you have under law (Section 7.6).
  4. Between the announcement and the end date, and after the end date, you can still read, search, export and delete the records on your iPhone for as long as the app runs. Before the end date, we will remind you to export your records.

11. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

  1. We do not guarantee that the Service fits your particular purpose, that transcripts, summaries, journal entries or answers are accurate, or that the Service will be available without interruption.
  2. If our negligence (other than gross negligence) causes you damage and we are liable for it, the amount is limited to the total subscription fees you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the day the damage occurred. This cap does not apply if we acted with intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
  3. If data stored on your device is lost, we are not liable where we are not at fault (for example, device failure, loss or theft, an OS malfunction, or your own operation). Where we are at fault (for example, a defect in the Service), the preceding paragraph applies. Keep copies of important records using "Export records" in the app.
  4. Any provision of these Terms that excludes or limits our liability does not apply to the extent it is invalid under Japan's Consumer Contract Act or other laws.

12. Suspension of use

  1. If you breach these Terms, we may suspend all or part of your use of the AI features, for the scope and period we decide are necessary based on how serious the breach is.
  2. As a rule, before suspending, we will tell you the reason and scope and give you a chance to correct the issue. However, when urgent action is needed, such as when there is a risk of serious harm to other users or third parties, we may suspend first and tell you right away.
  3. During a suspension, you can still read, search, export and delete your records.
  4. Suspending the AI features does not automatically stop your App Store subscription. If a suspension will last longer than one month, we will tell you how to cancel your subscription.
  5. If you object to a suspension, contact support@lifeknot.app. If we suspended you by mistake, we will restore your use right away and direct you to Apple's refund procedure. We do not limit the rights you have under law for the suspended period (Section 7.6).

13. Changes to these Terms

  1. We may change these Terms without your individual consent, in accordance with Article 548-4 of the Civil Code of Japan, only when either of the following applies:

- The change is in the general interest of users; or

- The change does not go against the purpose of these Terms and is reasonable in light of the need for the change, the appropriateness of the new content, and other circumstances relating to the change.

  1. Before the effective date, we will announce in the app and on our website that we are changing these Terms, the new content, and the effective date. Changes that are unfavorable to you will be announced at least 30 days before the effective date.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

  1. These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. However, this does not prevent the application of consumer protection rules in the laws of the country or region where you live that cannot be excluded by agreement.
  2. Any dispute about the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court or the Tokyo Summary Court, depending on the amount of the claim, as the court of first instance. However, if the law allows you to bring a claim in another court, that rule applies.

15. Contact

16. Language

These Terms are available in Japanese and English. If the two versions differ, the Japanese version prevails. However, this does not affect the protection you are given under the laws of the country or region where you live.

17. Transfer to a company

We may transfer the business of the Service to a company we establish (Senseis). Before a transfer, we will announce in the app and on our website the name and address of the company, the transfer date, and that our position under these Terms and the handling of your information will be transferred. If the law requires your consent, we will ask for it.
